The pressure relief valve is designed to maintain adequate intake pressure in the intake pipe when closed. Opening the valve allows excess gas to escape into the atmosphere, thereby safeguarding the engine intake pipe by reducing the intake pressure.
Changing the heat sink's position alters the frequency of the pressure relief sounds generated by the gas when it collides with the heat sink at high velocity.
